Lyon Railway Network
Analysis of current operations and proposed improvement plans
The Lyon railway network is the most complex in France. It is centred on the Part-Dieu station, a significant national and international railway hub. The network includes TGV high-speed rail service, Intercity and regional trains. Railway traffic on the Lyon network has increased significantly over the years and plans are being developed for additional service.
In this study trenolab assisted our partner Alius Consulting by developing a detailed microscopic model of the Lyon network and then using the model to evaluate the existing timetable and future plans. The study was prepared for SNCF Reseau and included: model development, assessing the 2017 baseline, comparing the proposed 2020 timetable to the baseline, assessing the impacts of varying service policies on the Chambéry-Lyon line, and assessing the impacts of the Léman Express and CEVA projects on rail operations in Haute Savoie and on the Lyon-Geneva IC.
