Lugano Train-Tram network

The existing narrow-gauge single track line between Lugano and Ponte Tresa will be transformed in a new tram-train network, connecting the lower Vedeggio valley, the Malcantone region and the Lugano city center. The key of this new tram-train network is the new tunnel between Valle del Vedeggio and the city centre which enables to redesign the mobility of the entire region and the public transport offer by substantially shortening journey times and considerably increasing service frequency.

Since 2015 trenolab participates in the development of future timetables, the identification of associated infrastructure and the verification of the feasibility and stability of operations.
