Railways have used computers for decades. However, they have not yet harvested the huge potential of combining big data analysis and simulation.
Stefano de Fabris is the chief developer of TRENO. He studied Computer Engineering and received a PhD in Transport Engineering at the University of Trieste in 2011.
His PhD research focus, thesis and the paper “A new approach for calibrating the motion equation in the stochastic Modelling of railway operations”, were extremely appreciated at international level, since they allow remarkably increasing the accuracy of railway simulation. The following paper “A method for using stochastic blocking times to improve timetable planning” defined a groundbreaking approach for the evaluation of the quality of a timetable while planning it.
Stefano enjoys attending concerts and playing videogames.
